String Input Box Properties dialog box – String Input Box Settings tab

Develop > Database > Field > String Input Box

This dialog box lets you add or configure a string input field in an input block or a modification block.

Target field

Select the database field corresponding to the string input field. The drop-down menu lists all the eligible fields among those you selected in the Database Fields step of the Database Wizard. Only fields that have the string data type are eligible.

Default value

If desired, enter a default value for the string input field.

If the string input field is in an input block, you can select a parameter that will supply the default value. Click the button to select a parameter from among the parameters that have been defined in Parameters tab of the Document Header Properties dialog box.

If the string input field is in a modification block, the default value can be supplied from a string-format database field among the fields you selected in the Database Fields step of the Database Wizard. The value contained in that field for the selected record will be used as the default value of the string input field when the document is displayed in a browser. Click the button to select a database field.

Width (characters)

Specify the width of the input field, in characters.

Maximum input length

Specify the maximum number of characters that the field will accept.
