Image Effects dialog box
Image Layout > Image Effects
You can apply various retouching and special effects such as Frame, Drop Shadow, and Bevel effect on the image. You can also clip or resize the image as well as insert the text.
Brightness, Contrast, and Sharpness
Adjusting the brightness
Click Lighten or Darken to adjust brightness of the image by degrees. Clicking makes the image brighter while clicking makes the image darker.
Adjusting the contrast
Click Increase Contrast or Decrease Contrast to adjust the color contrast of the image by degrees. Clicking makes the image increase its contrast while clicking makes the image decrease its contrast.
Adjusting the sharpness
Click Sharpen or Blur to adjust the sharpness of the image by degrees. Clicking makes the image blurry while clicking sharpens the image.
Rotate and Flip
Rotate Left
Click Rotate Left to rotate an image 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Rotate Right
Click Rotate Right to rotate an image 90 degrees clockwise.
Flip Vertical
Click Flip Vertical to flip an image upside down.
Flip Horizontal
Click Flip Horizontal to flip an image left-side right.
Image Effects
Frame
Click Frame to apply various frame effects to the image.
Bevel Effect
Click Bevel Effect to apply various bevel effects to the image. The image looks bulged after you have applied this effect.
Drop Shadow
Click Drop Shadow to apply various shadow effects the an image.
Zoom
Select the drop-down menus of Zoom to increase or decrease the magnification of the image.
Crop and Resize
Crop
Click Crop and then drag the cropping handles at the corners and sides of the image, or enter the new size in pixels manually in the Width and Height boxes. You can control the roundness of the crop area using the Roundness slider: . You can control the sharpness or blurriness of the crop border using the Feather control: .
Resize
Click Resize and then drag the resize handles at the corners and sides of the image, or enter the new size in pixels manually in the Width and Height boxes.
Drawing
Text
You can type the text over the image. Click and specify the font, size, color and other settings in the Add Text dialog box.
Draw Line
Click to draw a line on the image. Select a line thickness from the options at the bottom of the tool palette and choose a color by clicking the Stroke color box. Then, click and drag on the image to draw the line.
Draw Circle
Click to draw a circle on the image. Select a style from the options at the bottom of the tool palette:
- Draw stroke only (no fill)
- Draw stroke and fill
- Draw fill only (no stroke)
Click the Stroke and/or Fill color boxes to select the stroke and/or fill color. Then, click and drag on the image to draw the circle.
Draw Square
Click to draw a rectangle on the image. The options are the same as for drawing a circle (see above).
Pen
Click to draw a thin, freehand line on the image. Click the Stroke color box to select a color, and then click and drag on the image to draw the line.
Brush
Click to draw with a freehand brush on the image. Select a brush shape from the options at the bottom of the tool palette and choose a color by clicking the Stroke color box. Then, click and drag on the image to draw the brush stroke.
Eraser
Click to erase an area of the image. Select the eraser shape from the options at the bottom of the tool palette and then click and drag on the image to erase the desired area. The erased area will be filled with the color selected in the Background color box.
Other buttons
Accept Crop/Resize
Click Accept Crop/Resize to complete the Crop or Resize task.
Cancel Crop/Resize
Click Cancel Crop/Resize to cancel the Crop or Resize task.
Undo
Click Undo to cancel the last action.
Redo
Click Redo to redo the previously undone action.
Reset
Click Reset to cancel all the effect applied to the image and take the image back to the original state.
Background color
Transparent
If you have applied shadow effects to an image or cropped an image in a non-rectangular shape, you can set the background as transparent by checking Transparent. To use the Transparent option, the image file format must be GIF or PNG, which support transparent background.
Background (BG)
Specifies the background color of the image .If you have checked Transparent, the background color is ignored.
Image/Brightness/Contrast/Sharpness
Shows the current image information on its size, brightness, contrast, and sharpness.
