Lets you select a document on your local drive, your local network, or on the Internet to open for editing. The Open dialog box is used not only to open a document in the Edit window, but also in many places where you click Browse in a dialog box to select a file.

Look in

Displays the name of the current folder or drive. Click to select a different drive from the drop-down menu. The files and sub-folders in the current folder or drive are shown in the file list.

Filename

Contains the name of the selected file in the file list, if any. A filename can also be entered directly.

Files of type

Controls what kinds of files appear in the file list. Select a file type from the drop-down menu, or select All files to show all types of files.

URL

If the file you want to open is located on the Internet, enter its URL here and click the Open URL button. You must have an active Internet connection to use this feature. Click the drop-down menu to show a list of previously entered URLs.
